My Approach

A Commitment-Based Philosophy

I am not a Coach who subscribes to an individual lesson here or there as a student or their parent sees fit. My philosophy centers on a deep commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering a lifelong love of golf through structured, long-term development programs. This approach requires purchasing lesson packages with commitments ranging from 6 to 12 months, ensuring consistency in training and promoting meaningful growth over time.

My coaching philosophy is rooted in providing the highest quality of service to both students and parents who have placed their trust in me. By maintaining an intentionally limited capacity, I ensure that every student receives the personalized attention and coaching they deserve.

Currently, I maintain a maximum capacity of only 12 full-time in-person students at any given time. As of April 2025, I am at full capacity for in-person coaching. Please go to the BE A GOLFER website and the Waiting List page to learn more.

During an initial discovery meeting, a thorough discussion takes place to gather comprehensive information from potential students regarding their motivation to commit to improvement and their specific goals. Should the outcome of this meeting indicate that meaningful progress can be made, I will formulate a detailed development plan. The foundation of this plan is based on a combination of our initial conversation, comprehensive testing across various areas of the student’s game, and several specialized assessments that provide crucial insights into their current abilities and potential for growth.

The execution of our agreed-upon plan is accomplished through my strategic partnerships with multiple golf program improvement providers, including Golf Live, CoachNow, and V1 Golf, as well as cutting-edge technology such as SportsBox AI, Rapsodo MLM2PRO, and other innovative tools that enhance the learning experience and provide precise feedback for continuous improvement.

In Person & Remote Sessions

I am a firm believer in ensuring that in-person coaching sessions remain focused, productive, and appropriately timed. In general, I maintain that no session should exceed two hours at any one time, as this approach maximizes retention and prevents mental fatigue. On occasion, as deemed necessary based on specific training objectives, sessions may be conducted over two hours, incorporating numerous breaks to maintain effectiveness.

My conviction regarding session length stems from research I encountered from Brain Balance, which you can explore by clicking here.

“The golf swing is like a suitcase into which we are trying to pack one too many things.”

~ John Updike

Examples of sessions that may extend beyond my standard time philosophy include occasional playing lessons, comprehensive observation sessions during tournament play, and detailed testing sessions that require extended evaluation periods to gather complete performance data.

For students located outside of the greater Orlando area, I offer comprehensive remote coaching packages that make expert guidance accessible from anywhere in the world. These innovative packages enable competitive teen players to work with me, regardless of their geographic location, ensuring they can continue to develop their skills and passion for the game, wherever they are situated globally. Remote sessions require only a phone, iPad, or computer, and we utilize platforms such as the Golf Live app and its patented technology, enabling real-time coaching sessions directly from a student’s golf course or home practice area, anywhere in the world. This technological advancement will further bridge the gap between in-person and remote instruction, creating an even more immersive and practical learning experience. Zoom, CoachNow, and other advanced technologies are also used to facilitate seamless communication and instruction.

The remote coaching program maintains a maximum capacity of only 25 full-time students at any given time, ensuring that even at a distance, each student receives focused attention and personalized instruction. As of January 2025, this exclusive offering has 20 spots remaining. Through personalized video sessions, comprehensive online training modules, and real-time feedback, remote students receive the same high-quality instruction that I provide in person.

The Real Work Happens Between Sessions

As I have emphasized throughout my coaching career, the most valuable and transformative work occurs between our scheduled coaching sessions. This interim period represents the time when students, through dedicated repetition and focused practice, truly grasp and internalize the concepts we explore during our in-person or remote sessions. The beauty of utilizing the CoachNow platform and app lies in its ability to maintain constant connectivity between student and coach, ensuring that all our work together remains accessible and reference-ready at any moment.

The app features a comprehensive “Chat” section where an ongoing dialogue takes place between the student and me, creating a continuous learning environment that extends far beyond our scheduled session times. This constant communication channel enables immediate feedback, quick clarifications, and ongoing motivation, keeping students engaged and progressing even when we are not meeting face-to-face.

Both in-person and remote packages are billed monthly for convenience and flexibility, with a minimum six-month commitment required to ensure consistency in training and meaningful development. This structure enables families to manage their investments while ensuring the sustained effort required for genuine improvement.

It is crucial to emphasize that I maintain a core belief that FUN should be at the heart of everything we do together. When I reference the word “Work,” it is never intended as a burden or chore, but rather as an exciting opportunity for growth and discovery. Golf should remain enjoyable and engaging, even as we pursue serious improvement and competitive excellence.

“To succeed, work hard, never give up and above all, cherish a magnificent obsession.”

~ Walt Disney

This philosophy of combining serious commitment with genuine enjoyment has been recognized throughout my career, including receiving over 25 prestigious awards for contributions to youth golf development, most notably the 2017 PGA of America National Youth Player Development Award. Through appearances on the Golf Channel and local Florida news outlets, as well as writing for respected publications such as PGA.com, PGA Magazine, Golf.com, and GolfWRX.com, I continue to share this balanced approach with the broader golf community, always emphasizing that the journey of improvement should be as rewarding as the destination itself.

“I have had the pleasure of not just knowing, but working with Brendon on several occasions…and no one has more passion for growing the game with junior golfers than he does. Sheer determination and confidence in his plan has impressed me over and over across multiple initiatives. He wears his heart on his sleeve and goes above and beyond the call of duty.”

FAQ’s for Private Coaching

  • Will any missed weekly sessions be made up?

Yes, any missed weekly session will indeed be made up at a time that is most convenient to both the student and myself. I understand the difficulties of scheduling for the modern family, after all, I am a parent myself. If a student falls considerably behind then we will tackle that situation as it comes.

  • Where Do You Coach?

Currently, my central Academy location is at Wekiva Golf Club in Longwood, FL. On occasion, I am able to conduct playing lessons at other facilities throughout Central Florida, but these instances are driven by my contacting and arranging with those facilities, not by the parent or student. There is professional courtesy to consider on my end when going to another course. Starting July 1, 2025, I will have access to a new indoor facility called “Lofty’s Indoor Golf,” located in Longwood, FL. This will be used when the weather is a problem preventing us from being outside.

  • I’m a Member at XYZ Country Club, Can you Coach my Child Here?

In general, no. There is an unspoken courtesy among Golf Professionals that one coach will not encroach on another’s facility. While some may test that, I will not and will always show respect to another Professional and their business.

  • Do you do Payment Plans or are Packages Paid Upfront?

Although I do not offer individual, single lessons, my regular hourly rate in 2025 is $150 per hour. With that said, the discounts included in my package rates are available by committing to participate in a 6-, 9-, or 12-month agreement. Payments are made monthly. Some scholarship money is available from time to time via our Breakthrough Golf Alliance 501c3.

“What I propose to you and have proposed to countless students over the years as being one of the biggest secrets to success and playing good golf is quiet simply to HAVE FUN!”
