My Approach

A Package Approach

I am not a Coach that subscribes to an individual lesson here or there as a student or their parent sees fit. My philosophy revolves around a commitment of purchasing lesson packages ranging in amounts of 24, 48, 72 or 96 hours. During an initial discovery meeting, a lengthy discussion is had to gain information from a potential student regarding their desire to commitment to getting better and achieving goals. Should the outcome of the meeting be one where we agree that progress can be made, I will formulate a plan. The bases of the plan comes from a combination of the initial talk, testing in various areas of a students game, and several assessments I have the student go through. The execution of our agreed upon plan, between the student and myself, is done through my partnership with Ikonik Golf, a breakthrough coaching platform and app.

The idea of the 24, 48, 72 or 96 hour packages is to finish these in 3, 6, 9 or 12 months respectfully. However, as a husband, and parent of two myself, I understand the scheduling challenges of the modern family and will surely adapt accordingly to that.

In Person Sessions

I am a believer in making sure in-person coaching sessions remain focused and relatively short. In general, I feel no session should go past two hours at any one time. On occasion, as I see fit, a session over two hours may be conducted but will have numerous breaks. My bases for this belief comes from a study I read that came from Brain Balance. You can read the article by clicking here

“The golf swing is like a suitcase into which we are trying to pack one too many things.”

~ John Updike

Through our use of the Ikonik Golf platform and app, the real work is done based on what the student does in-between our in person sessions. Examples of sessions that do breach my overarching philosophy of shorter sessions include the occasional playing lesson, observation session, or a testing session.

The Real Work Happens Between Sessions

As I made mention previously, the most valuable work is done in-between our in-person coaching sessions. This is the time when students, through repetition, groove those concepts we work on during in-person sessions. The beauty of using the Ikonik Golf platform and app is that students are always able to reach me or reference things we have been working on…its all right their on the app. The app has a “Chat” section where an ongoing dialogue takes place between the student and myself.

It is very important to stress the fact that I have a core belief that FUN should be at the heart of what we do. When I reference the word “Work” is not at all with intentions of that being a dirty word 🙂

“To succeed, work hard, never give up and above all, cherish a magnificent obsession.”

~ Walt Disney

“I have had the pleasure of not just knowing, but working with Brendon on several occasions…and no one has more passion for growing the game with junior golfers than he does. Sheer determination and confidence in his plan has impressed me over and over across multiple initiatives. He wears his heart on his sleeve and goes above and beyond the call of duty.”

My Personal Mission

I’m a constant work in progress that has one simple desire…to help others, particularly our youth, love the game of golf as much as I do. In whatever form they choose to consume it…Playing for recreation or competition, looking to work in the field, or simply talking shop about the greatest game in the world. I love nothing more than being able to share my 25+ years of experiences in the game to enhance others personal experience with it today.

FAQ’s for Private Coaching

  • Do your Hourly Packages Need to be Completed in a Certain Time Frame?

Yes and No…Let me explain, while the intention is for a 24 hour package to be done in 3 months, a 46 hour in 6 months, a 72 hour in 9 months and a 96 hour in 12 months, there is indeed wiggle room. I understand the difficulties of scheduling for the modern family. If a student falls considerably behind the suggested pace, then we will tackle that situation as it comes.

  • Where Do You Coach?

Currently, our main Academy locations are at Wekiva Golf Club in Longwood, FL and Mount Dora Golf Club in Mount Dora, FL. On occasion, I am able to conduct playing lessons at other facilities throughout Central Florida but those instances are driven by my contacting and arraigning.

  • I’m a Member at XYZ Country Club, Can you Coach my Child Here?

In general, no. There is an unspoken curtesy among Golf Professionals that one coach will not encroach on another’s facility. While some may test that, I will not and will always show respect to another Professional and their business.

  • Do you do Payment Plans or are Packages Paid Upfront?

Although I do not do individual, single lessons, my normal hourly rate would be $125 an hour. With that said, the discounts that come with the package rates are given when the package is prepaid. However, I do offer payment plans. If a payment plan is requested, the monthly rate will be higher than the rate if it was paid in full. There is still a substantial discount off the hourly rate but fees will apply.

“What I propose to you and have proposed to countless students over the years as being one of the biggest secrets to success and playing good golf is quiet simply to HAVE FUN!”
